Death Rates / Profiles
1) DEATH RATES
Using the UN 5 year data it is possible to derive “synthetic” death rates for each 5 year period. These values allow us to "predict the past". Fixed "HIGH" and "LOW" death profiles are used to make future projections.

An example is under the "Basic data/methodology" discussion item.

The graph shows variation of death rate / profile from 1950-2010 calculated for Bolivia.

Notice how the death rates have dropped over the last 60 years particularily for the 5-10 year age group.

2) "HIGH" "LOW" Profiles
The actual death profiles used in the projections are :- "HIGH" = death profile for Bolivia (2010). and "LOW"= death profile for France (2010).

The graph below shows comparison of these two profiles

Future variation of death profiles will not large and only fixed "HIGH" and "LOW" profiles are used for projection.
